How to remove enamel from 14kt gold pendant?

I have a 14kt leopard pendant that is covered in spotted enamel on the top.Is there any way I can remove the enamel at home? Can it be safely removed?

Soak it in lacquer thinner and scrub with an old toothbrush. Lacquer thinner will not hurt the gold, but will dissolve the enamel.
