For centuries, prayer to St. Jude for hopeless causes has sustained desperate people who feel they have nowhere else to turn. St. Jude has been petitioned for help in every kind of crisis imaginable. Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive the consolation and help of heaven in all necessities, tribulations, and sufferings, particularly (state your case) and that I may praise God with you always.

In his earthly life, St. Jude was a kinsman of the Lord and one of the twelve apostles. Church tradition tells of a vision of St. Brigit of Sweden in which Jesus encouraged her to turn to St. Jude in faith and confidence. Jesus told her, "He will show himself to be most willing to give you help."

St. Jude continues to this day to fulfill this promise to those who in faith pray for his heavenly intercession.
