Medal Sterling Silver
i want to know the approximate value for a set of Sterling Silver Presidential Profile Commemorative Medals?
There are 36 coins or medals total. One one side is the presidential bust starting with George Washington and ending with richard nixon. also shows the year they served office except nixon just shows 1968-.The other side is a brief description of the highlights of their presidency. Each coin has a serial number on the edge and says sterling. They are encased in a mahogany case with the presidents signature under each coin. also shows a KW stamped on the front side of each medal which i am guessing is the artist. I would like to know who made the medals,who the artist is, and what is the value of the set?
They are worth only the silver value unless you find someone that wants it as a collectible. Coin collectors collect coins not medals and there is a lot of that stuff out there so you will have a hard time. You need to know what the silver content is and how fine. .925 is sterling and .999 is almost pure. Silver changes day to day so you can look in a newspaper or ask a coin dealer. The buy such items at a percentage below spot price and sell it for a percentage over spot, or have it melted.
