Russian Orthodox Cross

Bought a new Cross Necklace.....?

I was baptized when I was very young and was given a gold cross - I lost my cross years ago and I was told to get a new cross and take it to church first before I wear it. Does this mean the cross gets baptized or something - or has some prayer given to it? My old cross was baptized along with me when I was just born. Mom is Russian, Dad is Ukrainian - all of us are Russian Orthodox - Including me.

Any help would be great.

It is important that the cross would be the orthodox form.

If you buy a cross in the shop at orthodox church, it does not need sanctify it.
If you have purchased a jewelry store, then take it to orthodox church, to an Orthodox priest blessed it.
