Where can I find bronze colored crucifixes and eye pins at wholesale pricing?

A friend of mine asked me if I could fix the chain on her rosary (because I make jewelry) and after examining it I got the idea to add rosaries to the jewelry I make. I found some bronze colored center pieces (about 20 for $2.00!) at Micheal's, but all of the crucifixes they had were gold or silver tone, and they had absolutely no bronze colored eye pins. I've looked at a few websites and haven't seen any of the metal findings I need in bronze at an affordable price. I'm open to suggestions of alternative color/material schemes as well, but I'd like to find AT LEAST the crucifixes in a bronze color so the necklaces will look nice.

have you tried http://www.wholesalejewelry.net They have tons of religious themed jewelry at very low prices. They also have tons of bronze and copper toned jewelry items. If you just want parts, you can take apart the necklaces and use what you want--the prices are comparable or better than what you paid for the bronze colored pieces you mentioned.

You can also use earrings and other pieces of jewelry in this way. It's a great way to find parts you have trouble locating. Just scrounge for parts by buying wholesale assembled jewelry that has the parts you want and dissect them to get exactly what you need... plus you'll also get extra spare parts this way, which can be nice. As long as you're buying wholesale, the prices should be at least as good if not better than a retail place like Micheal's, even though you're getting assembled jewelry and not just the specific pieces you're interested in. Wholesale prices for costume jewelry should be very, very low... no more than 50 cents to $1.00 per pair of earrings or 50 cents to $2 per necklace, and you will typically be buying by the dozen. Also, since each earring of a pair is in effect a center piece, you can further cut that per-unit cost in half if you buy earrings in this way. It's something to consider, especially if you're having no luck at craft stores and parts merchants.

You might also want to try amazon or ebay, although the first is not wholesale and the second is riskier.

Whoever you shop with, be careful. Make sure the checkout is secure and encrypted (look for the s in https:// prefix at the checkout page where you enter your credit card information). Read their privacy policy and make sure they aren't going to sell your address to marketers and spammers. Also check their return policy in case you want/need to send anything back and make sure they have a PHONE NUMBER where you can call and quickly speak to a real person who will help you with any problems or help you find something that you're looking for. The reason I tend to try Wholesale Jewelry and Accessories (http://www.wholesalejewelry.net) first is because they are reliable, trust worthy, and have a very friendly customer service department backed up with a rock solid returns policy. This is important since you will presumably want someone you can come back to when you need more supplies. So, no matter who you shop with, find someone you can trust and build a relationship with, or better yet find several such suppliers. Try to get to know a particular person at that company by name so that you have a specific person to deal with and who might be able to help you when you need something specific or maybe even could hook you up with a special deal.

How do you make a bandana necklace with the big wooden beads and cotton balls?

I remember making these back in the 1980s but can't remember how we did it. Anyone? Thanks!

I think they were made with bandana type fabric rather than a whole bandana (and often with other fabrics too). From what I remember, the fabric was cut into a long strip, then sewed all along one long side and probably one short side (inside out). It was then turned inside out so the fabric faced outward.

A bead with a large hole was threaded onto one end of the fabric tube to the "end" position (leaving enough fabric to tie or to add a clasp, or not to fall on top of the shoulders, etc), then glued there to hold in place.
Then a bit of polyester stuffing or perhaps a cotton ball was shoved all the way to the first bead inside the fabric tube.

Then another bead was threaded onto the outside of the tube, another bit of stuffing inserted in the tube . . . repeat, repeat.

The last bead probably needed to be glued in place too, or guess it could be sewed through the back side of its large hole.

Medal Cross Gold

Unidentified Medal: Military or Freemason?

I found a medal mixed in with my Grandfather's WWII medals but I could not find it in the army medals. It looks like four white arrow heads outlined in gold with the pointed ends coming together to form a cross. In the center is a black circle about the size of a penny. The circle has an eagle on it with his wings spread. There is a shield on the eagles chest. The shield has red and white stripes on the bottom and a blue section on top with gold stars in it. Written around the edges of the black circle that the eagle is on is "E Pluribus Unim." The medal is attached to a black ribbon that would pin on your chest. I thought it might be freemason only because in with his stuff was a 1942 copy of the Freemason Constitution. Thanks for any help you can give.

Do you think it's disrespectful to wear crosses etc for fashion?

I'm an atheist, but I still refuse to wear crosses, rosary beads or any other religious item despite them being "in vogue". I feel as though it's disrespectful to those people who value these items, even though to me they don't have any such value. Other atheists I've talked to say it's fine to wear them for fashion because to me they mean nothing. What do you think?

I grew up religious and was always taught to only wear the cross as a sign of respect towards my religion. Along the same subject I feel that it is disrespectful for people to use Buddha as a room decoration if they are not Budhists.

Beaded jewelry patterns or ideas?

I love to make jewelry and am planning on selling some. If i have materials and good direction I can make anything. Does anyone have any patterns for any size seed/e-bead(not sure what I have)? I have looked everywhere can on google and continue to see the same things. I have the following things:
different colored glass beads, ebeads seed beads, faceted beads, bugle beads, beading wire,ribbon to put beads with larger holes on, all the tools I need, and jewelry findings. Please contribute sites or anything free! Also feel free to post your own ideas even if they are just inspiration for a pattern.

Visit your local craft store and look for the monthly magazines. They offer many projects that include a supply list and good directions. Some stores offer beading classes as well. I understand that you are familiar with basic beading, but classes will offer you a place to work out and seek advice on your own ideas. Personally, I wouldn't waste my time on the purchase of beading books, the hard-cover kind. Sometimes they're way too expensive for the little info offered.

A web search for free patterns should produce many sites for beading projects. If you're really good at "visualizing" then a search of hand-crafted jewelry pics will also provide a source for projects.

what holds acupressure beads on the ear. I got put on free at an Asian festival Saturday that will fall off?

in about five days. they seem to be covered with a white paint looking substance. the beads she said are not metal but plastic and I would like to keep them on a little longer as she got the areas I need help on and these really give a good pressure. It kind of resemble rubber cement but bright white.

Where can I buy more and what is used to make them stay on and adhere

Have you used these or acupuncture and did it work or not.

She said they are opening a sliding fee acupuncture/pressure clinic down the road and I am excited this may be in my reach for my health concerns but what is the adhesive and where do I buy more beads and see an ear chart.

if the beads are plastic, just go to a craft store and look for beads of a similar size.

They sell magnet tape that can stay on the body for days and is waterproof. cut a small piece and apply the bead with that.

wire differences for rosary making?

i want to make a rosary for my self made out of argentium silver. the beads i will be using are 10mm frosted onyx the rosary will be about 25 inches so it will be long and heavy. I was wondering what size wire and what type of hardness should i use for my rosary i was thinking of 18 gauge half hard silver wire. But i dont quite understand the difference between the hardness of the wire. Can some one please give me an idea of the type of silver wire i should use for my rosary. It will be heavy so i want good wire that wont bend easy.

Most sterling wire is sold half hard. This means that it's still soft enough to work, but can be work hardened with a few good bends or a couple of hits with a hammer. If you see some that's dead soft, it may take a bit more work to get it fully hardened. I really haven't found it to matter much, although with the size of your beads I'd definitely stick with half hard. The gauge of your wire should be sturdy enough for your beads, but also needs to be narrow enough to fit through the holes. 18g may be too large to fit without enlarging your holes (generally not worth the trouble). Go with 20g if you can--most of the stone beads I've had won't fit on anything bigger than 22g. If you wrap the end of the wire at the base of each loop on either side of the bead, you'll have a stronger connection than just bending a loop in the wire. You may also be able to use a slightly large gauge wire for connecting rings between the beads.
